@ Tertius, thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. I think that it is best just to sell it.
Well, i wish you all the best for your servicing, hope all goes well. I think that from now on, I'll just go straight to renault or even an accredited renault mechanic to do all future services on my car. I also thought that it might be the valve stem seals or even the rings on the pistons that could be giving me that problem with the oil. Just hope that this time it wont cost an arm & a leg...LOL.

Reading all the posts have really opened up a reality check for all people who own cars, you know that no matter how well you maintain a car, it is still just a mechanical machine without a brain, when it gives in...IT GIVES IN, when it rains it pours...

Have a great day further & thanks again for the reply.

About the oil being lost its possible valve stem seals wasn't installed correctly or never replaced. Worse case the head may have a crack. I'm waiting since Wednesday and just got a call the service and timing belt was replaced. For any machanic to change the cam belt isn't the biggest problem. They need special tools to do this. 1st Machanic said no problem. Car stood the whole Wednesday and Thursday. Friday he phoned after taking the belt off he needs special tools. http://www.tooled-up.com/artwork/ProdPDF/VS4960.pdf check out this site what they need. I was shivering of anger. He said his friend can do it. He will only ask R350 for the service because his friend will Charge R2000 to replace the cam belt. Well gonna fetch it now. Praying all the way its done and right. I might aswell have just taking it for its 90 000km service to Renault. It would have cost me R850 extra and hopefully not R20 000 later like yours. Best advice sell ASAP. That car is gonna cost you more fixing it than saving for another car. I don't even want to know what a new head will cost you. Also try speaking to a Renault machanic. They all do privates when they get chance. Next time my clio's cam belt need replacement I will take it directly to Renault. Also bought all original spares. Hope the thickness is right. Good luck. All cars have their problems. Google it. Just getting honest and reliable service is the biggest problem. O no just got a call the sump is leaking. Gota go.

Hi, I have a 2004 Renault Megane 1.6 16V. Not even a year ago I had a major service done to my car, reason being, it was due for it's cam belt service. My car has just over 200 000km's on it. to tell you the truth, before I had the service done, it was going so much better then it is now.
Well, let's begin on how much it cost me to use a extremely qualified mechanic that is used to servicing race cars & so on... all in all the service cost me over R20 000 cash...
The clutch was also replaced, normally I used to service my own cars, but was told that i should never try to service my renault on my own, so I do not do it.
Clutch kit was over R4000, that was the most expensive part about it, then to top it off, to date 20 Feb 2012... my clutch has been taking high, my foot is almost right off the pedal before i go go.
When my cam belt was changed, all went well, drove to my work place literally 10km away from the workshop, parked my car & was happy with the way it was feeling.
Work day finished got into my car & tied starting it.... nothing happened ... phone my mech, he could only come through the next morning. he checked my car & it looked like his heart stopped for a minute, he said the ORIGINAL RENAULT FAN BELT THAT I BOUGHT FROM RENAULT tore on my pulley & wrapped itself around my cam belt pulleys, therefore lifting my cam belt & bending all 16valves. He told me that things like this have NEVER happened to him EVER before. We then discovered that the FAN BELT FROM RENAULT was 1.5mm thicker then the one used for my car.
We fought with renault over this for over a week & they denied it point blank. So...I had to get my head sent it for skimming a new head gasket set that was over R2000 & so on...
Ever since this happened, i have had endless problems with my car. it is now like i said after putting a brand new ORIGINAL RENAULT PARTS CLUTCH KIT, the clutch is taking high & now i have white smoke bellowing out like it's some old car that has been run down for years, I need to put a pint of oil in every 4 days but there is no oil leak visible & to top it off, my petrol tank is leaking through the cap above the fuel pump.

does anyone know why i could be loosing so much oil but no oil leaks visible & a solution to any of the other problems. Oh, i also replaced my ball bearings with the service & lo & behold my ball joints are gone too...!!!!

This is the app that does it for me -> https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kebab.Llama&hl=en It is very customizable, even allowing for things like switching wifi on/off, time based profile changes, etc.

I wonder if someone has written something for iOS that does the same thing?

Geez. What an eye opener I got. I just bought a 2007 Clio 3 1.6 Expression. Installment sale for my wife because she works far and needs a reliable car. It needs to go for its 90 000km service in 3500km time. Just to be safe she phoned for a Quote. Yip R7400-pollen filter, threaded plug, spark plugs, feel filter, cam belt kit, water pump, engine coolant, air filter, sump plug washer, oil filter, fan belt. Labor is expensive-cam belt labor is R2500 and service labor is R1500. I think I'm also rather going to take it to a bosh service station. Or sell ASAP. All the less the Car Dealer Nissan Hatfield didn't even put new Tires on. Their Excuse is the car was clearance stock and they could not spend any money before delivery. Pathetic service. Yes its my own fault I bought it from an online add. Did not test drive or inspect the car or find these posts 2 days after delivery. Or else I would never have gotten the Renault.

I sold my Renault Megane last year because when I took back it for service to the Renault Fountains in Pretoria, it had more problems than it had before I took it there, it could not start but it had no problem starting before I took it for service, it would just stop and not move along the road and gez what, when I phoned Renault Fountains they said they could not help me and if they had to, I would have to pay, mind you, I took the car back to them a day a fter I collected it from service, I tried buying a new battrey bcos they told me it was a battrey problem and it wasnt, the problems continued until I decided to trade it in for the Audi. I wouldnt say dont buy a Renault thou but maybe Renault people need to look at matters like these.
